Next Meeting — February 5th — In-Person and Online

Topic: The Lippmann Color Process – A Unique Photographic Method

Tim Barrett, K9VB, RaRa Vice President

We have an intriguing topic for our February presentation and I’m sure it will be of interest to all. Our speaker, Nick Brandreth is a new member of RaRa and is very qualified to talk on photographic processes. He held the position of Historic Process Specialist at the George Eastman Museum for a decade and is a teaching artist who has done extensive research in historic and alternative photographic processes. He has developed diverse bodies of work using such techniques as dry plate glass negatives, handmade early-20th-century-era motion picture film, Lippmann color plates and holograms to name a few.

The Lippmann color process is the only naturally occurring color photographic process. There are no dyes or pigments in the plates. The color you see exists only when white light is broken down into its respective colors. Nick will discuss the history and theory of one of the rarest forms of photography and provide samples in person for everyone to enjoy. This might be the only time you’ll ever get to see one in person. And I expect we will all learn what the pictures below signify!

Please join us on February 5th, the meeting starts at 7:00PM at the Boy Scouts Headquarters.
